The Society of Experiential Trance is undergoing some amazing changes! As our mission evolves, so does our organizational framework. We have taken a good long hard look at the sort of outreach folks have asked for as well as other resources available. As of 14 October 2011, the SET's focus shifted primarily upon creating and maintaining particular open community development resources and projects in addition to our competence certification mandate.
The work of the society has historically been more effectively focused upon general open community development and that work will continue to expand as we create new and exciting methods for learning hypnosis and various types of trancework with a focus upon fostering competence for the application of trance within a variety of contexts. While many of our members are particularly interested in learning skillsets appropriate for the use of hypnosis within professional settings, we are the only formal hypnosis society that also not only recognizes but accepts members who are informed hobbyists or entertainers or even those who employ hypnosis and experiential trance in consenting adult intimate contexts. We are quite proud to consider no one application of hypnosis superior to any other and while individual members may have preferences in how they use their skills, the society is here to foster open community and sharing among hypnotists of all types and those who work within many settings, vanilla and alternative are all welcome.
Please watch this space for more exciting news in the future!
